Pharmacological Action

Eprinomectin belongs to macrolide insecticides, which have a highly effective anthelmintic effect on internal and external parasites, especially nematodes and arthropods. It works by increasing the release of γ-aminobutyric acid (γ-GABA), an inhibitory transmitter of the parasite, and opening glutamate-controlled chloride channels. This enhances the permeability of the nerve membrane to chloride ions, blocking nerve signal transmission, leading to paralysis and death of the parasite.

The pharmacokinetics show nonlinear characteristics. When 0.5 mg/kg body weight is applied to dairy cows, the peak concentration (Cmax) reaches 18.64 ± 2.51 ng/ml with a peak time (Tmax) of approximately 3.63 days. It is mainly excreted via feces.
