Vetsys Pharmaceutical
Pharmacological Action: Amitraz, as a broad-spectrum vermifuge, has excellent efficacy against acarids, ticks, flies, and lice. Its primary action is contact toxicity, complemented by stomach and intake toxicity.
The insecticidal effect is linked to the inhibition of monoamine oxidase, which affects the amine neurotransmitters in the nervous system of parasites. This causes superexcitation in blood-sucking arthropods, causing them to lose their grip and fall off the animal's surface. The effect typically results in lice and ticks falling off within 24 hours and acarids within 48 hours. One dose provides protection for 6-8 weeks.
