Product Description
Heparin Lithium Salt

Heparin lithium is a commonly used blood anticoagulant, widely used in clinical testing. Its mechanism of action is that heparin can bind to antithrombin III, significantly accelerating its inactivation of serine proteases such as thrombin, thereby blocking the coagulation cascade reaction and effectively preventing blood clotting.

Heparin lithium is usually used in conjunction with inert separation gel (light green cap) in vacuum blood collection tubes. After blood collection and centrifugation, the separation gel will form a physical barrier between serum/plasma and blood cells, achieving rapid separation of plasma. This plasma sample can not only be directly used for instrument detection, but also stably stored for 48 hours under refrigeration conditions.

Heparin lithium anticoagulant tubes are the preferred choice for electrolyte (such as potassium, sodium, chlorine) testing and are also suitable for routine plasma biochemistry and emergency testing, but not for coagulation tests and white blood cell classification.

Product Advantages
Heparin lithium has become the preferred anticoagulant for blood ion detection due to its unique chemical inertness. It only achieves anticoagulation by activating antithrombin and exists in the form of non detectable lithium salt, which does not interfere with the determination of key ions such as potassium, sodium, and calcium. Compared to EDTA that chelates ions or heparin sodium that introduces exogenous sodium, it can restore the true concentration of blood ions to the greatest extent possible, ensuring accurate detection.
Application Fields

Emergency Biochemistry and Electrolytes: Used for detecting potassium, sodium, chloride, calcium ions, which can restore the true concentration in the body to the greatest extent possible and avoid errors.

Plasma biochemistry project: suitable for the detection of routine biochemical indicators such as liver function, kidney function, blood glucose, and myocardial enzyme spectrum.

Blood gas analysis: Due to its rapid liquid anticoagulation and no impact on acid-base balance, it is a commonly used additive in blood gas analysis blood collection tubes.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the primary function of Heparin Lithium?
It acts as a potent anticoagulant by binding with antithrombin III to inactivate thrombin, effectively preventing blood from clotting during clinical tests.
Why is it preferred for electrolyte testing?
Because it is a lithium salt, it does not interfere with the measurement of sodium, potassium, or other key ions, ensuring the most accurate clinical results.
How should the powder be stored for maximum stability?
It should be sealed and stored in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture. It is stable at room temperature but highly hygroscopic.
What are the standard delivery and transportation options?
Shipment is typically arranged on the day of order if stock is available. Small, high-value orders are recommended via air freight or express, while bulk orders are more cost-effective via sea or land.
Is it suitable for routine blood counts?
No, lithium heparin can affect blood cell morphology and is therefore not recommended for white blood cell classification or routine blood counts.
What packaging sizes are available?
The standard options include 10g/bottle and 50g/bottle for smaller needs, or bulk options such as 20kg/barrel and 25kg/barrel.
